Washington, D.C.- August 22, 2016 – The Democratic Coalition Against Trump today released a report detailing extensive ties between Donald Trump, Ivanka Trump and the Iranian regime. The report’s findings, all sourced from publicly-available documents, detail the close business relationship between the Trump family and the Iranian regime during a time when Iran was subject to intense U.S. and international sanctions over its nuclear program and support for terrorism around the globe.
The Super PAC’s report raises troubling questions about whether Donald Trump and Ivanka Trump have been providing material support for terrorism, even as the Trump campaign purports to take a tough line on terror. While it raises new questions about the credibility of Donald Trump and his daughter and lead surrogate, Ivanka Trump, the new report also provides substantiation to questions about Trump’s ability to act in the best interests of the United States.
The report details evidence Donald Trump and his companies, including Ivanka Trump’s business, have done substantial business with Iran and includes:
– Corporate brochures
– Shipping logs
– Reference numbers for bills of lading
– Container numbers
– Evidence that goods came through Iran
“Maybe Donald Trump’s hard line on Iran was really designed to keep his ties to the sanctioned, terrorist-supporting regime under wraps,” said Scott Dworkin, senior advisor to the Democratic Coalition Against Trump. “Trump has voiced support for domestic terrorism and political violence throughout this campaign, so he’d probably get along with the Iranian regime quite well.”
Jarad Geldner, senior advisor to the Super PAC and a longtime pro-Israel activist added, “For the Republican nominee to do business in Iran – before or after the nuclear deal – is completely unacceptable. Iran is the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism, and one of the globe’s leading human rights violators. Iran holds our citizens hostage, executes gay people, represses women and threatens our allies with destruction. Donald Trump and his daughter must explain to the American public why we should look the other way while they enter into business agreements with this horrible regime.”
