It’s about seven months now since Santi Cazorla has played on the field. This is as a result of complications battling with the midfielder.  Santi revealed his burning desire to return to the field of play, noting that his current health issue is the worse that has ever hit him in his career.

“I remember I had a bad spell with a back problem [while with Villarreal in 2010] but this is worse because it [healing] doesn’t depend on me. Right now I can’t think about the future, I just want to return to play,” Cazorla said.

Seven months without playing with his Arsenal team seems for Santi like retirement.  He disclosed this in a brief with Cadena Ser on Tuesday night, regretting the fact that he will have to stay out of active football for some indefinite months.

“You feel like throwing in the towel but my desire to play football is above everything. I haven’t been given a time frame. It’s very difficult to put a date, but I don’t think it will be before five months. It’s been since October that I last played. I’ve undergone eight surgeries, the last one yesterday [Monday, 29th of May]. I hope that things go better,” he stated.

Cazorla noted that his complications since November has not been helping him perform for his club but that the club has been really supportive despite this. “They (the club) have been very good to me,” Cazorla said.

“They gave me a contract extension before I had my surgery (last year). The coach spoke to me and reassured me,” he added.
