In light of the unfortunate emerging normalization of mass murders of innocent people accompanied by senseless destructions of their historical treasures the world over, especially in today’s Muslim World, left me no option as a peaceful coexistence activist but to launch a new self-affirmation series dubbed ‘I AM A PERSON’ last Friday. This series is modelled after the Jim Crow Era self-affirmation of ‘I AM A MAN’ by the African descend men in the Americas whose personhood were legally disrespected/denied.
Nowadays we’ve witnessed that socioeconomic status, religion, heritage, gender, age, education, profession or any other attributes and entitlements do not matter where the sanctity of personhood is first disregarded. Therefore normalization of any form of violence under any pretense must never be allowed to find footing in any society or groupings.
There is no dispute that people’s lives, families, dignity, safety and fortunes are beyond violation regardless of who they are and how they choose to live their lives. Our divinely engineered diversity must be a source of celebration not condemnation. Furthermore, all lives are divinely created for a purpose and therefore deserve to be protected. I AM A PERSON full of potential!
