The President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame on Monday 19 June 2017, arrived in Zambia on a two days state visit.
Kagame was officially invited to the country by his counterpart, the President of the Republic of Zambia, Edgar Lungu.
The state visit, as explained by Harry Kalaba, is very significant as the two leaders of both countries will have a chance to share knowledge upon multiple issues.
“The two leaders are expected to, on Monday, hold bilateral talks, sharing best practices and strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries (Rwanda and Zambia),” said Harry Kalaba, the Foreign Affairs Minister in Zambia.
The Foreign Affairs Minister further explained that Kagame’s visit was also meant to help ensure that the two countries begin to support each other at various cases, including the African Union, the Great Lakes and COMESA among others.
With the fact that President Paul Kagame has interest in learning how Zambia is industrializing, his host (President Lungu) had him tour Kafue Steel company. The company is owned by Universal Mining and Chemicals Industries Limited, under Trade Kings group and is
found in Kafue District.
It is stated that, Zambia can learn a lot from Rwanda, as Rwanda is more developed and much advanced in the area of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT), which section, Zambia is just trying to upgrade.
The Zambia Minister on 31 May, 2017, while still in preparations for the Rwandan President’s visit, told the reporters that Rwanda is one of the fastest growing economics on the African continent and has made strides in its socio-economic development.
Therefore, the meeting would enable the two leaders to exchange experiences.
