UNITAR set to take 25 South Sudanese on leadership and entrepreneurship training
The UNITAR South Sudan Fellowship Program: Entrepreneurship and Leadership Youth Training 2017 Cycle will begin with a Workshop on Monday, 7th of August at UNITAR’s Juba office, located in the UNDP compound, Juba, South Sudan. The Orientation Workshop, according to reports, represents another key opportunity for the people of South Sudan to be informed about UNITAR’s capacity-building efforts, which are supported by the Government and People of Japan for building a better future for all.
Following the launch of the 2017 Cycle, UNITAR has completed the selection process of 20 Fellows from the public sector, civil society organizations, private sector, media, and academic institutions of South Sudan. Sixty candidates were nominated from the specific departments and units highlighted in the target list, out of which 20 qualified individuals have been selected to take part in the program.
Arriving at the 25 selected, UNITAR noted that the selection process was highly competitive and merit-based. Before the selection, candidates were examined on academic qualifications, professional experiences, and learning orientations of the candidates, along with an interview and written test, the latter of which was introduced to the selection process for the first time.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Ousainou Darboe, while appreciating China for contributing to Gambia, has described China is an important partner who truly supports and helps the development of Africa and a close friend of Gambia. He on behalf of Gambia thanked China for their long-term selfless assistance in various fields. Adding that the new Gambian government will never change its firm adherence to the one-China policy.
The Foreign Minister disclosed this during a meeting with the State Councilor, Yang Joechi in Beijing. Based on this, according to reports, China is willing to, together with Gambia, cement political mutual trust, expand practical cooperation and enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges, so as to constantly promote bilateral relations to new stages.
