Myanmar’s army arrests Reuter’s journalists

Yangon: Two Reuter’s reporters (who worked on stories about a military crackdown in Rakhine state) have been arrested in Myanmar by Myanmar’s army.

It was been reported that Wa Lone, 31, and Kyaw Soe Oo, 27, have been missing since Tuesday after being invited by the police at a dinner party in the north of Yangon.

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said, “The United States is demanding the immediate release of two Reuters reporters arrested in Myanmar or information as to the circumstances around their disappearance.”

He added, “A free press is vital to Myanmar’s transition and becoming a viable democracy, and we want Myanmar’s democracy to be succeed.”

Myanmar’s military operations against the Rohingya’s population “ethnic cleansing” and threatened target sanctions went against those responsible for cruel act against innocent people.

The officials of Reuters contacted the officials of Myanmar about the release of the reporters but in vain.

However, Ministry of information said, “Wa Lone and Kyaw Soe Oo illegally acquired information with the intention to share it with foreign media and released a photo of the pair of handcuffs.”

According to MCR’s resource person, no official report had been registered in the court of Yangon then.
