Sudan’s Prime Minister escapes assassination attempt

Sudan’s Prime Minister, Amdalla Hamdok, has survived an assassination attempt after a blast near his convoy in Khartoum.

Disclosing this on his Tweeter handle, on Monday March 9th, 2020, Homdok said, “What happened will not stop the path of change, it will be nothing but an additional push in the strong waves of revolution.”

He posted alongside his tweets, a picture of himself smiling and seated at his desk, while a TV behind him shows news coverage reporting he had survived.

There has, since the occurrence of the incident no claim of responsibility.

Sudan’s security has however taken up the case and said it will seek help from friendly countries to identify the culprits and bring them to justice.

“Terrorist attempts at dismantling the old regime will be dealt with decisively,” Sudan’s information Minister Falih Salih said.
