The world’s total coronavirus cases have surpassed 14 million, with more than 600,000 fatalities reported as of Saturday 18 July, 2020.
The World Health Organization reported a record surge in coronavirus cases worldwide for the second day in a row, with the total rising by 254,848 within 24 hours.
As of Sunday 19 July, 2020, the coronavirus updates indicated a total of 14,429,371 cases and 604,963 deaths, according to an online report.
The latest report made it another milestone in the spread of the coronavirus disease that has killed 600,000 people worldwide in a space of 7 months.
The United States, Brazil, India and South Africa top the world list of countries with the biggest increases reported on Saturday 18 July, 2020, according to a daily report.
Deaths rose by 7,360, the biggest one-day increase since 10 May, 2020, while a daily average of 4,800 deaths were reported in July, up slightly from an average of 4,600 a day in June.
With Saturday’s 259,848, Friday’s 237,743 and other previous cases reported, the surge means that 1 million cases were reported under 100 hours.
The United States recently recorded 71,484 new cases, 45,403 in Brazil, 34,884 in India and 13,373 in South Africa as reported by the WHO.
India on Friday became the third country in the world to record than 1 million cases of the coronavirus, behind only the United States and Brazil.
Brazil crossed the 2 million mark of coronavirus cases on Thursday, doubling in less than a month and adding nearly 40,000 new cases a day.
The United States is currently leading the world with largest cases of over 3.8 million and 142877 deaths from the coronavirus pandemic.
