US military ship brings over 300 evacuees from Sudan to Jeddah Islamic Port
A US military ship has docked at the Jeddah Islamic Port on Monday morning, carrying more than 300 evacuees from Sudan.
Al Arabiya reported that the ship accommodated a total of 308 individuals from various nationalities.
This arrival marked another significant step in the ongoing foreign evacuation process from Sudan, facilitated through Saudi Arabia.
The US government had previously announced its commitment to aiding Americans affected by the conflict that erupted in Sudan on April 15.
According to State Department spokesman Matthew Miller, nearly 1,000 Americans have already been assisted in escaping the turmoil.
Miller further stated that the US government remains dedicated to providing support to its citizens and other eligible individuals, facilitating their onward travel to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
In Jeddah, additional US personnel are stationed to offer consular services and emergency assistance, as reported by AFP.
