Saudi air defenses has thwarted Iran-backed attack and intercepted two explosive-ladden drones

While disclosing this in a statement on Sunday June 20, 2021, Arab Coalition said that the drones were heading towards Khamis Mushait.

“Just hours before, the Arab Coalition had announced that it intercepted seven explosive-laden drones launched by the Iran-backed militia towards the southern region of Saudi Arabia,” the statement read.

It added that the coalition had successfully intercepted the seven drones in Yemeni airspace and thwarted attempts to attack the Kingdom.

“The Houthis’ deliberate and hostile attempts to attack Saudi Arabia constitute as a war crime,” the coalition said.

The coalition also announced the necessary operational measures to protect civilians from any hostile attacks.

The attempted attack was launched less than 24 hours after Saudi Arabia’s air defenses intercepted a drone launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militia towards Khamis Mushait.

The kingdom of Bahrain also strongly denounced the Iran-backed terrorist Houthi militia’s launch of a booby-trapped drone towards the city of Khamis Mushait in Saudi Arabia, as repetitive deliberate targeting of the security and safety of citizens and residents.

In a statement, Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs commended the efficiency and vigilance of the coalition forces in Yemen, which managed to intercept and destroy the aircraft.

It affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain stands shoulder to shoulder with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia against all threats to its security, stability and territorial integrity.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also called on the international community to condemn these heinous terrorist attacks that pose a grave threat to the safety and security of innocent civilians.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary-General Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen condemned the Houthi terrorist militia attempt to target civilians in Khamis Mushait city in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

OIC condemned the Houthi militia’s terrorist aggression. It reiterated the organization’s solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in all the steps it takes to protect its security and stability.
