Germany’s Hanau shootings leave eight dead, five injured
Not fewer than 8 people have been reportedly killed, while five others were injured in Germany’s Hanau killing.
The 8 people were shot dead on Wednesday 19th February, 2020 in a shooting by yet to be identified gunmen at two shisha bars in ther city of Hanau.
The shooting which took place at 10 p.m. local time (2000 GMT/UTC) has triggered the police to carry out manhunt for the perpetrators.
“The search for the perpetrators is in full swing and hotlines have been set up for the public to help with vital information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects,” a police spokesman said.
While commenting on the shooting, Katja Leikert, a parliamentarian for the Hanau constituency, stated that it was a true horror scenario for us all.
The perpetrator reportedly got to the first Shisha bar in Hanau and sporadically opened fire that killed three people.
They later drove to the seond shisha bar in the wetsern neighborhood of Kesselstadt and opened fire which killed five people in front of the bar.
Hessischer RundFunk confimed that the first shot was at a shisha bar in the city center.
There was reportedly a third shooting which took place in the north of Lamboy, but there was not reports of any casualities, accordinig to a spokesman of the prosecutor’s office.
Katja Leikert, the representative of the Hanau constituency in the parliament has offered condolences to the family of the victims and prayed for the quick recovery of the injured.
“On this terrible night in Hanau I send those close to the victims all my heartfelt condolences,” he noted.
“It was a terrible evening that will surely occupy us for a long, long time and stay wit us in sad memories,” he added.
