A heavy earthquake has damaged several buildings in Croatia, leading to the evacuation of hospitals.

Many buildings in the capital have cracked and several rooftops damaged with downtown streets littered with debris and damaged cars.

Footage from the scene on Sunday March 22nd, 2020 showed women who were being moved to a new location dressed in nightgowns and hugging their newborn babies in a parking lot as they evacuated a damaged maternity hospital and freezing temperatures.

Regardless of the Health Minister’s warning to keep a two meter social distance, residents have disagreed stating that only a living person will worry about coronavirus.

Paul, a resident of Zagreb, said “Earthquakes are more important than the coronavirus. If the earthquake hits and you are under a door, you worry about yourself first and then the mask later.”

However there has been no reported death except for a 15 year old child who is reported to be in critical condition and measures are on to save the teen’s life.

Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic has urged citizens to remain and stay calm outside their homes in the central parts of Zagreb said the earthquake was the hugest in Zagreb since the last 140 years.
