Barack Obama has endorsed Joe Biden for president, describing him as an experienced statesman.
While endorsing him on Tuesday 14th April, 2020, in a 12-minute video, Obama said, “Biden is a unifying leader with the capability to confront the health and economic crisis caused by coronavirus.”
Obama’s endorsement came a day after Bernie Sanders, a one-time Biden’s formidable rival endorsed Biden.
Meanwhile, Sanders did not only endorse Biden, he also appealed to the progressive to unite against president Trump.
Obama similarly appealed to Democrats to unite and support Biden ahead of general election which he said would be historical and divisive.
Praising Biden in the video, Obama said he had made the best choice of his life appointing Biden as his vice-president.
“Choosing Joe to be my vice-president was one of the best decisions I ever made, and he became a close friend,” he said.
“And I believe Joe has all the qualities we need in a president right now,” he added.
Obama gave a throwback to his term in office as the then American president and how he and Biden had helped rebuild America from” great recession” and rescued American auto industry.
He also specifically said that Joe helped him managed H1N1 and prevented Ebola from becoming an epidemic and helped him restore “American standing and leadership in the world.”
Acknowledging Obama’s support, Biden said in a Tweet that “Obama’s support means the world to him and his wife, Jill.”
“There’s no one I’d rather have standing by my side,” Biden added.
